Call on elected officials to condemn ICE activity in North Carolina
En Español abajo!

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is currently conducting widespread operations across North Carolina - from Charlotte to the coast. These operations include checkpoints, intimidation and monitoring of Latinx communities, a large-scale raid in Sanford, and the reported detention of dozens of North Carolinians.

These operations, which spread fear and distrust in local law enforcement, undermine the public safety of all North Carolinians.

Furthermore, ICE activities that result in the detention of family members place entire households at risk for negative financial, educational, and mental health outcomes. Separating families is unacceptable at the border and in our communities in North Carolina.

ICE’s increased presence across the state and detention of community members comes in the wake of multiple decisions by sheriffs across the state to end their collaboration with ICE in order to support public safety for all community members, including the migrant community, in their respective jurisdictions.

In the wake of this wide-scale crackdown, communities and organizations across the state are mobilizing to protect our communities and defend people’s rights. We stand together in condemning this recent wave of ICE activity that targets immigrants, disrupts local businesses, and separates families, and call on elected officials and Governor Cooper to do the same.
