UMS is accepting proposals for both the Fall 2017 semester and the Winter 2018 semester at this time.
DEADLINE FOR PROPOSALS: August 1
Additional proposals for the Winter 2018 semester will also be considered later this year.
DEADLINE FOR PROPOSALS: September 22, 2017
UMS will fund 5-10 courses per semester. Faculty fellows will receive $1,000 in salary supplement and $500 in course development funds.
Course development funds can be used towards:--Books and other research materials--Honoraria for guest speakers--Student ticket/admission costs to performances, museums, etc. --Transportation costs to/from arts events--Other relevant course costs with approval
Grantees will also receive curricular support from UMS Education and Community Engagement Staff, as well as special consideration for interactions with UMS visiting and teaching artists (subject to artist availability).
Strong proposals should outline thoughtful engagement with two or more UMS performances. These grants are designed to encourage unexpected connections to the arts from a diverse range of disciplines, and to expand UMS's network of community partners across the U-M campus; to that end, special attention will be given to proposals from the social sciences, sciences, and the Schools of Engineering, Public Health, Public Policy, Social Work and Business.
