Introduction

We would like to invite you to take part in a research project. Before you decide you need to understand why the research is being done and what it will involve for you. Please take the time to read the following information carefully and ask questions about anything you do not understand by emailing the Principal Investigator.

What is the purpose of the study?

We are interested in identifying Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Level 3 Automated Driving in different vehicle types and technologies through the perspective of experts in the field.

Why have I been invited to take part in the study?

You have been invited to take part in this study because you are working in a field related to vehicle manufacturing, human machine interface, sensors, automotive technology, human driving behaviour, or you are a professional driver. To be eligible to take part in the study, you must meet the following criteria:
• Be 18 years or older.

Do I have to take part?

No, you do not have to participate. There will be no adverse consequences in terms of your legal rights and your care / treatment / employment status / education, that is, there will be no impact on your assessment or work, if you decide not to participate or withdraw at a later stage. You can withdraw your participation at any time. You can request for your data to be withdrawn until the submission of this online questionnaire without giving a reason and without prejudice.
If you withdraw from the study this will mean the following for your participation and data:
All identifiable data would be withdrawn from the study. Data which is not identifiable to the research team may be retained because we cannot trace this information back to you. No further data would be collected or any other research procedures would be carried out on or in relation to you.

What will I have to do?

If you agree to take part, we will ask you to sign a consent form. Then you will fill out questions about your area of expertise and KPIs pertaining to Level 3 Automated Driving. The second round of this research will last until 26 July 2019 but your involvement would only be 5 - 10 minutes. No benefits or disadvantages are tied to taking part in this research.

What will happen to data that I provide?

Your data will be anonimized and then analyzed with the aim to lead to publications and reports. If you decide to take part in the TrustVehicle Expert Panel, your email will be collected (with your explicit approval) with the purpose to communicate with you about further studies. Your email will not be shared with anyone outside the researchers involved in this project.

Research data are stored securely for at least 10 years following their last access and project data (related to the administration of the project, e.g. your consent form) for at least 6 years in line with the University of Surrey policies.

Will my taking part in the study be kept confidential?

Yes. Your details will be held in complete confidence and we will follow ethical and legal practice in relation to all study procedures.
