Rising Change Agent Servant Leadership Travel Camp

The Lowery Institute Servant Leadership Camp is an exciting summer program that helps young leaders explore entrepreneurship, community leadership, and the power of making a difference. Through fun activities, field trips, and hands-on projects, campers will learn how business, government, and teamwork shape the world around them.

Week one is inspired by Herman J. Russell and Jessie Hill Jr., two important leaders who helped build businesses and create opportunities for Black communities in Atlanta. Campers will discover how to turn ideas into businesses, make smart money choices, and understand how leaders create change in their neighborhoods with a Change Agent Tank 2.0 at weeks end.

Week One: July 14 - 18, 2025 | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM | Entrepreneurship & Leadership

  • Theme: Building a Brighter Future
  • Campers will explore what it means to be an entrepreneur, learn how businesses start and grow, and understand how money and smart decision-making can help communities thrive.

Week two is inspired by Mayor Shirley Franklin and Mayor Andre Dickens, a past and current Mayor of Atlanta whose backgrounds have given them two unique approaches to governing the City of Atlanta. Campers will explore how democracy works, how leaders make decisions and how those decisions affect all of us. The week will begin with a field trip to Montgomery's Legacy Museum which will begin the discussion about democracy and equal rights for all in America.

Week Two: July 21 - 25, 2025 | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM | Leadership & Democracy

  • Theme: Using Your Voice for Change
  • Campers will discover how government works, why voting is important, and how leaders make decisions that affect their communities. Through real-world activities, they will practice problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership skills to make a difference in their world.

Each week, campers will take part in interactive workshops, team challenges, mentorship sessions, and exciting field trips to important places in Atlanta that highlight business and civic leadership.

This camp is designed to inspire and prepare young leaders to take charge of their futures while having fun, meeting new friends, and exploring new ideas!  Rising 5th graders - 9th graders should apply.
