Conference Essential Questions: How can teachers create math experiences that develop agency and ownership in our classrooms? How can we promote access to rigorous mathematical learning that also develops and reinforces a mathematical identity?

This GSDMC 2020 Conference aims to answer these questions through our collective expertise as inspired by the NCSM/TODOS Joint Statement (bit.ly/NCSMTodosPositionStatement) focus on Acknowledgement, Action, and Accountability.

Call For Proposals
We are delighted to announce our call for speaker proposals for the GSDMC conference! We invite you to submit a proposal to speak at the Greater San Diego Math Council's 37th Annual Conference on Saturday, February 29, 2020 (Leap Day!!).

We are accepting proposals for 75 minute sessions. We seek speakers who will enthusiastically and actively engage attendees with our conference foci:

**Student Thinking - involving students in their learning, analyzing student data, questioning strategies, CGI, multi-dimensional problems/tasks, formative assessment.

**Building Math Agency - eliciting and facilitating student discourse, advancing student voice that influences ownership of learning, social justice in the classroom.

**Rehumanizing Mathematics - using identity, culture, and language in the classroom to establish positive self-discourse and address equity and access.

**Technology to Promote Access - tech that builds the math identity, opens access, and promotes the voice of all students.

By Nobember 1st, 2019, please complete the speaker proposal form below. We will review proposals and send decisions by mid November. All rooms will be equipped with a computer projector and rolling individual desks which can facilitate group collaboration. We are particularly interested in sessions that actively engage attendees, so please address these elements in your proposal.

You may name a co-speaker to assist with your workshop. You may submit up to 2 proposals. Compensation for speakers and one co-speaker will include:

(1) Complimentary registration and membership in the Greater San Diego Math Council for one year.

(2) Transportation reimbursement of $0.54 per mile for driving costs. Maximum reimbursement for driving and airfare costs is $200.

(3) Handout reimbursement, not to exceed $25 for each session for sessions in rooms holding 40 or fewer people, or up to $50 for sessions in rooms holding more than 40 people. Itemized receipts must accompany your request for reimbursement.
