Ready to ride?

As a first step, please complete the form below. Please note: Completing this form secures your place on the wait list, but does not guarantee a spot on the ride.

Bos/tréal has a finite number of participants. Our goal is to build a well-mixed, diverse group of riders who support one another and have great experiences together. We use clear eligibility criteria, set targets for both new and returning riders as well as gender expression and racial diversity, and index on characteristics such as "bike joy" and one's personal motivations for joining to promote a balance of experiences and perspectives. We then send final invitations to people within those groups using random number generation. While we can’t guarantee a spot for everyone who applies, we aim to run a process that aims to be thoughtful, transparent, equitable, and aligned with the shared norms and values of the Boston Cyclists Union.

We'll follow up with individuals who get picked through the lottery one-on-one to complete the final registration and pay the $100 deposit. (It's not uncommon for spots to open up closer to  Bos/tréal's departure date.)

Is fundraising a barrier?

We know fundraising and personal costs (both time and money) can be barriers to riding  Bos/tréal, especially for those who are disproportionately effected by the poor road conditions we at the BCU are advocating to change. Through our Scholarship slots, we aim to make the ride more accessible by eliminating registration costs and requiring only a $950 minimum. The BCU is also pursuing ways to further support scholarship recipients with free gear and other perks. At minimum, BCU staff/volunteers can gladly lend bike and camping equipment. If this is you, please indicate your consideration on the appropriate question below, and an organizer will reach out to you! We have limited spots scholarship spots available.

*All responses will be private and won't be accessible to anyone besides BCU staff, board members and relevant Bos/treal core-organizers*

A big part of this community are the 12 training rides that occur on alternating Saturdays and Sundays in the 12 weekends prior to the ride. Do you believe you will have availability to attend these rides? Attending all is by no means required, but at minimum several are encouraged.

Have you applied to Bos/tréal in a previous year and not yet been able to go on the ride?

Are you interested in applying for one of this year’s scholarship spots? This reduces the fundraising minimum by half ($950).  *
