Self-Compassion for Helping Professionals: Self-Soothing Intervention in EFT
Mental health professionals are trained to care for other people and to focus their attention on the suffering of their clients. This often distracts mental health professionals from caring for themselves. Yet the daily exposure to the pain and complex problems of their clients leave many mental health professionals psychologically drained. This course focuses on cultivating self-compassion for helping professionals. Self-compassion soothes and contains negative feelings and restores oneself to calmness. Self-Soothing is an Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) Intervention that focuses on identifying and fulfilling the emotional needs of an individual. Participants will have a chance to take a moment to pause, reflect upon their own self-care and develop a sense of kindness and compassion for oneself.
