PURPOSE :  The purpose of the summit is for local organizers from around the state to meet with each other face to face, analyze their current campaigns and plan statewide strategies to deal with the proposed increases in oil trains and oil terminals.
In your opinion, the most important outcome of this Summit should be:
FRIDAY: Beginning at 5:00 pm, we will share some food, spending time introducing ourselves to each other, and listen to presentations by two confirmed speakers.  Fawn Sharp, President Quinault Nation, Carleen Thomas, Tsleil-Waututh Nation.
SATURDAY: 8:00 AM TO 12:30 PM.   We will begin with a panel discussion led by site specific organizers in Vancouver (Tesoro/Savage Oil Terminal), Olympia (Propant Importation), Grays Harbor (3 Oil Terminals) and Anacortes (Shell refinery rail expansion).
We might add an additional morning panel: Suggestions have been a labor panel (Fire Fighters, Electricians, Railroaders, Longshore) or a Panel of organizers in rail centers such as Spokane and Centralia/Chehalis)
Do you have comments about a second morning panel?
SATURDAY 2:00 PM TO 5:00 PM. Strategy discussions by target area. People have requested plenty of time to have face to face strategy discussions and prepare a report back to the Summit. There are many possible target areas for planning:
(1) An educational/organizing tour from Spokane to Vancouver and up the I-5 rail line . (2)  A  “Mayors' Manifesto” based on resolutions passed by City Councils. (3)  Securing Governor Inslee's support for a moratorium and rejection of Tesoro/Savage Oil Terminal. (4)  A focus on BNSF, Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway. (5) EIS/legal interventions on Grays Harbor oil terminals. (6) Formation of a Statewide Coordinating Committee on Oil Trains, (6) A Calendar of movement- building Direct Actions or mass march.
Which of the above mentioned target areas would you like to discuss? Do you have another target area suggestion?
Clear selection
My proposal for statewide action is:
SATURDAY EVENING 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM.  We  have invited some additional guest speakers: a Representative from the Lac Megantic Solidarity Committee and an organizer from the Bakken Oil Field. (both are unconfirmed, as of June 9th)
Do you have another suggestion for a Saturday evening speaker?
SUMMIT WILL CLOSE ON SATURDAY EVENING
OPTIONAL SUNDAY 9:00 TO NOON.  We will have space available for follow up meetings if people choose to have them.
Are you planing a follow up discussion on Sunday morning?
