Flannelfest 2020 Homebrewers Competition
February 22nd, 2020 12-4:30pm

Welcome to Flannelfest 2020! In order to provide the best possible experience for both our attendees and our Homebrewers, we have provided some basic guidelines below for each Homebrewer intending on entering in this year’s Homebrewing competition.

Each Brewer may enter up to 2 beers into the competition. We are limiting the total number of beers to 50, so be sure to sign up as soon as you are committed to this event. For each entry you will receive 1 free admission that allows you to sample all of the craft beers at the festival, a beer stein, a Lazy Man Medal, and use of all the festival games. This year, Homebrewers will have their own tent that will open an hour after the festival starts allowing time for all homebrewers to enjoy the festivities prior to having to be present in the tent.

The competition will award a 1st and 2nd place winner in each beer category and in addition to the individual category awards, an overall Judge's and People's choice award will also be presented at the conclusion of the competition. Judging for this competition will be conducted by selected brewers from various microbreweries. The judges will be using a scoresheet provided by Flannelfest and will be made available to reference for those who sign up and secure an entry at the competition.

Event set-up information:

-Homebrewers are required to have their respective stations setup at Flannelfest by 11:45am. Any participant not setup by that time will not be eligible for the competition.

-Each beer will get half of a 6 foot table. So please be considerate when determining how to set up your distribution space if you bring only 1 beer.

-There is a limited number of chairs available but you are allowed to bring chairs of your own.

-Sampling glasses will be provided to your table. Homebrewers will be expected to serve their beers in these 2 oz. glasses and only to those individuals who are wearing an event wristband.

-Homebrewers should also expect to bring everything necessary to serve their beers. Flannelfest will be unable to provide competitors with tools, serving equipment, or storage for entries. Please plan accordingly!

Competition Guidelines:
-Each entry needs to be at least 5 gallons.

-There will be 5 entry categories to enter your beer. When registering your beer, the details you provide about your beer will ensure your entry is placed in the correct category and judged accordingly

-The general categories for the beers will be as follows:
Light Beers
Dark Beers
Malty Beers
Hoppy Beers
Fruit/Cider Beers and Mead

-Judging will commence at 12pm in the Homebrewers tent. Near the conclusion of the festival, winners in each category will be announced and scoresheets will be made available to the homebrewers at the end of the day for those interested

-Have fun! As festival guests make their way to your table, don’t be shy to talk about your beer! Remember, this event shines the light on YOU, the homebrewer. This is a day to give the public a chance to taste your creations! Have fun with the names of your beers and feel free to dress up to fit the day!
