Our Economy and Creative Writing Workshops Application Form

Workshop series:

Arkbound’s ‘Our Economy’ and Creative Writing workshops will take place at Greater Govanhill (82 Bowman Street, G42 8LF) every Saturday at 14:30-16:00 from 6 July to 24 August. The workshops will consist of two strands, one exploring alternative economic models and theories: how can the economy work better for you and wider society? The second strand will focus on creative writing skills and ways to access publishing opportunities. Workshops will be led by a range of experts in both areas.

To invite people from disadvantaged backgrounds into discussions about the economy and empower them to have their voices heard. To help participants grow their confidence in their ideas and develop their creative writing skills, which will also help in writing engaging pieces about the economy.

After attending the workshop series, you will have the opportunity to have a piece of your writing published by Arkbound in an anthology based on themes related to the workshops. This will be available in both print and e-book formats.

All selected contributions to the book will receive an advance royalty of £300, in addition to a share of sales royalties after publication. For any other published material arising from your participation in all the workshops (blog, podcast, video, article), we also award prizes of £50 each.

Spaces on the workshop series are limited to 10. The workshop series is aimed at Glasgow-based participants who identify as experiencing disadvantage; for example, are unemployed, low income, long term carers, disabled, experiencing some form of social exclusion, etc. An interest in writing and curiosity about the economy and wider social issues is also advantageous!

Please complete and submit the application form below as soon as possible. The deadline for applications is 14 June. We're looking forward to hearing from you!
