The BTU Early Childhood Committee is interested in hosting a professional development for our paraprofessionals! Our hope is that we would get a group of paraprofessionals to attend the training who would then be interested in serving as trainers in their own schools or networks. In order to best meet the needs and interests of the early childhood paraprofessionals, we thought we would survey you all to find out what the best use of time and content would be.

Academic Language - Open ended questioning, language that supports learning

Small Group Instruction - Support with the Focus activities you will be leading

Play based learning support - Helping students in open-ended areas such as dramatic play, blocks, play-doh, etc.

Classroom management - behavior management, time management, building relationships - How can I facilitate the class when the teacher might be out?

Fundations training - supporting students basic foundational reading skills to support with intervention groups

Basic reading support - how to support students in using reading strategies (sounding words out, looking at the first sound, using the illustrations etc.) to support students during literacy centers
