Advanced Ukulele Workshop!
Sign up here for our first ever ADVANCED UKULELE WORKSHOP! And prepare to have your musical self expanded in every direction! :-) This workshop will be lead by Alex Nelson, a senior at UNC School of the Arts studying classical guitar and a long time friend of Clapping Hands Farm!

The workshop runs from  Saturday January 12, 10 a.m - 9 p.m. and. Sunday January 13 10 a.m. -  NOON.
Saturday Night DINNER will be provided. Please bring your own food for Saturday lunch.
We will have an informal "hang out and jam" time after dinner till 9 p.m. (don't miss this part!)
Sunday we will reconvene from 10- Noon for a final group lesson.
Individual lessons will be scheduled at various times through out the weekend.
Sliding Scale $100-$200. Scholarships available.
Limited to 6-8 people if Alex is the only instructor. We will try to bring in a second instructor if there is a demand. But we will not take more than 12 in any case.

The Workshop will include a 30 minute individual lesson with Alex, SEVEN HOURS of group lessons, and a Saturday Night Jam.
TOPICS ALEX IS PREPARED TO COVER INCLUDE:
* Introduction to HOW TO IMPROVISE in general and on the ukulele
*  SCALE PATTERNS
* CHORDS and how to BUILD THEM
* Advanced STRUMMING PATTERNS and PICKING PATTERNS including PICKING out MELODIES
* Understanding how the FRET BOARD works and leveraging off that understanding for other advanced work
* LEARNING SONGS together to integrate concepts into your body and on the instrument
* Playing in PARTS with different voicings of the chords
READING music and tabs is an option
WRITING Songs is an option

RECOMMENDED for ages 16 and UP. Younger players considered on a case by case basis (inquire).
PLAYERS should have 2 years active ukulele experience, be completely comfortable with most chords, bar chords, and a variety of picking and strumming patterns. If you have questions about whether you are prepared for this workshop, please contact us and we can discuss! clappinghandsfarm@gmail.com

The workshop runs Saturday January 12 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and from Sunday January 13 from 10 a.m. to Noon, with some time slots for individual lessons happening from 9-10 each morning. We highly recommend being at this workshop the WHOLE TIME. Do  you need to miss any of it? If so list the times you must miss below. Note: if we have more people than we can accept priority will go to people who can commit to the entire workshop. The workshop is limited to 6-8 people if Alex is the only instructor.
