Stakeholder Association: Background and History
The TB Alliance Stakeholders Association (SHA) is an informal advisory committee that is dedicated to ending the tuberculosis (TB) epidemic and to supporting the efforts of TB Alliance to develop new TB drugs and make them available to all who need them.

Stressing the importance of developing new drugs to improve the prevention and treatment of TB disease, Stakeholders advise and support TB Alliance on its activities related to research and development of anti-tuberculosis medicine and regimens; access and rapid uptake of new TB products, ensuring the Alliance’s “AAA Mandate” that all new products are adopted, available and affordable; dissemination and sharing of relevant information globally; and fundraising and advocacy.

To ensure that the SHA membership is fully representative of partnerships and synergies critical to TB Alliance's work in TB drug development, the active and dedicated community of organizations working towards the elimination of TB, and the introduction of improved TB drugs, we are always open to considering an expansion of the SHA membership to include important actors in the global TB community.

Organizations that are interested in becoming a member are requested to complete the questionnaire below. Applications for membership will be reviewed quarterly by a committee comprised of the SHA President and Secretary and members of the SHA Nominating Committee. Organizations will then be formally invited to join the SHA by the SHA President. While we attempt to ensure a broad global representation of members that is in line with the SHA guidelines, we will strive to keep the number of members manageable to ensure effective and meaningful engagement.

Declaration of Membership
Members of the SHA are asked to sign on to a Declaration of Membership [http://bit.ly/SHA_Declaration] committing to supporting the common vision of developing better, faster-acting, and affordable tuberculosis drugs. The declaration reflects where we currently stand in the fight against TB, and how we see the important role of stakeholders in helping us achieve our mission. We ask prospective members to review the declaration and to sign it as part of the membership initiation.

Please note: No sponsorship or compensation will be provided by TB Alliance to Members for involvement and support of SHA related activities, including participation in the annual SHA meeting.
