Athandiwe Saba is the Deputy Editor of the Mail & Guardian. Saba is a multi-award winning journalist who is passionate about human interest issues, and good governance. Her speciality is in investigations and data journalism and has produced in-depth articles on a vast range of topics over the past decade. This led to her establishing the Mail & Guardian Data Desk and has been internationally recognised for her work in investigative data journalism by the Global Editors Network. She has worked at some of South Africa’s most prominent publications, including Sunday Times and City Press. Saba is also a three-time speaker at the African Investigative Journalism Conference, has been a guest speaker at the Transnational Law Institute seminar series at Kings College in London, and has been a recipient of the News Corp Fellowship with the Wall Street Journal and The Times in London.

Dr Roland Nkwain Ngam
Programme Manager for Climate Change and Socio-Ecological Transformation: Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Southern Africa.
Dr Ngam is the programme Manager for Climate Change and Socio- ecological Transformation at the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Southern Africa. His main interests include climate science, energy policy (he is for democratically-owned and managed power grids) and co-operatives. He has written extensively on these issues for a wide range of publications. He studied development in the University of the Free State and the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa where he was an NRF scholar. Upon graduation, he joined the Emancipatory Futures Studies in the Anthropocene programme in the School of Development Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand as a postdoctoral fellow.
Tessa Dooms

Tessa Dooms is a Sociologist, development practitioner and political analyst. Having started her career in academia, Tessa has worked in diverse sectors including government, NGOs and the private sector, where she did work that aligns the objectives of various institutions and programmes with developmental objectives for the advancement of Africa. She has 15 years’ experience as a development worker, trainer and researcher with expertise on governance, youth development and innovation, and has worked in over 10 African countries. In 2015 she was appointed to the National Planning Commission to advise the President on the implementation of the National Development Plan of South Africa. Tessa is a Trustee of the Kagiso Trust. She holds a Masters of Arts from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Professor Richard Calland
Associate Professor: University of Cape Town
Professor Richard is an associate professor in public law at the University of Cape Town, a political commentator, a fellow of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), a climate finance expert and founding partner of the Paternoster Group. He has been freelancing for the Mail & Guardian as a Columnist for the past 20 years and he is the author of The Zuma Years.
