Is your organization looking to engage your community in and around the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (
https://www.rivers.gov/wsr50/)? To aid in the planning and execution of anniversary events, River Network is offering financial support to a limited number of grassroots organizations.
With support from Patagonia, River Network will provide 2-3 small grants ($3,000 - $5,000) to support events or initiatives that engage communities around the 50th anniversary and that build local groups’ long-term capacity for river stewardship, storytelling, and advocacy on Wild and Scenic River issues and campaigns. The events or initiatives should be designed to engage diverse audiences, thereby broadening and strengthening the community engagement programs of grassroots river and watershed groups – creativity is encouraged! These funds can be used to support any aspect of planning and carrying out an event or initiative, e.g., communications, creation of outreach materials, staff time, planning and implementing events, workshops or convenings, etc.
Successful grantees will need to post their event on the WSR 50th Events Map and create and share a short summary/highlight account of the event (blog, short video, etc.) that River Network can feature on its website (
https://www.rivernetwork.org/get-involved/stay-informed/blog/). Grantees are also encouraged to join us at River Rally 2018 (
https://www.rivernetwork.org/events-learning/river-rally/about/), including a one-day WSR pre-meeting.
Fill out the form below to let us know more about your organization’s plans for the 50th anniversary and how this grant can support your work.
