SGA: Independent Participant Application
Thank you for your interest in becoming an Independent Participant of the Student Government Association for the 2022-2023 academic year. Independent Participants of the Student Government Association will not have to attend the SGA weekly Wednesday meetings, 12:30pm-1:30pm, during the semester. However, you are always welcome to attend if the time does fit your schedule. As an Independent Participant, you may choose to participate in up to two SGA projects and or initiatives. You will be required to attend the entities' separate meetings, as well as initiative and project meetings. Please refer to this document: for detailed explanations of the expectations for all Independent Participants.

As an acknowledgment for your work, you are eligible to receive Service Learning credit. To receive Service Learning you must complete 10 hours of work. Once your requirements as an Independent Participant are met, you will receive a service-learning notation on your transcript.

The SGA is composed of the Senate Board, the Judiciary Board, and the Student Activities Board. Being apart of SGA is a wonderful opportunity in which you can make new friends, become a student leader at this college, and have fun! It will also entail hard work, but whose results will be rewarding in the end!

The Senate is where legislation is drafted, debated, and voted upon. It is composed of four committees: the Academic Affairs Committee, the Diversity Committee, the Public Relations Committee, and the College Affairs Committee.

The Judiciary Board is the student voice in issues that come up regarding Student Conduct and Public Safety. They also engage in values-based programming.

The Student Activities Board (SAB) plans and leads programs and events for students at the college.

Please keep in mind that you will not hold any official Student Government Association title. If you would like to be a Senator, Justice, or SAB Member you can fill out this application:

Please be aware of the requirements to be an SGA member before applying.

For more information on the structure of the SGA, you can review the Constitution and Bylaws. If you have any questions, please email SGA President Taylor-Lee White at
