To complete this survey, you will need:
- general building data (building size, unit count, etc)
- basic mechanical system information
- basic cost information
- the first page of your energy model
This survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete – but will contribute to an invaluable resource.
All entries are anonymized, and no data will be shared without permission.

Why should you contribute to this database?
In 2019, a team that includes Bright Power, Steven Winter Associates, the NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development, and the Community Preservation Corp. went on a mission to collect performance and cost data from multifamily Passive House buildings to better understand the true costs (and benefits) of Passive House. While Passive House has demonstrated great success for decades, there is little data available, particularly for multifamily projects, which prevents lenders from underwriting to the substantial energy savings promised by these projects.
We are Urban Sustainability graduate students at The City College of New York and our goal is to build a database that will host this valuable information and convince lenders and building owners that pursuing Passive House is an investment that is worth making.
We have received data from several generous building owners and architects, but are still in the early stages of developing this database. You’ve already made the world a better place by creating a building that dramatically reduces energy use and carbon emissions, and your contribution to this database will help bring more Passive House projects to fruition.
