NOTE: Select only the dates that align with your school's schedule. The DC Collaborative team will be assigning field-trips and will book transportation if you are awarded the trip in the lottery. If you are not awarded the trip, your request will be added to the waiting list.
Reminder: This form serves as a request and does not guarantee a reservation. The Collaborative is implementing a lottery based system and will assign trips equitably based on a random lottery assignment.
Angelina, a contemporary CinderellaPresented by: Kids Euro Festival and the Embassy of Italy"If you took away the glass slippers, the pumpkin and the fairy godmother what would be left of the Cinderella story? Quite a bit! - is the answer. You get a prince looking for a princess, a neglected girl, some juicy sibling rivalry and a wise philosopher. There’s also one thing that is mentioned in the fairy tale but made very explicit in the opera. Why is Cinderella able to overcome all the hardships in her path? It’s because of her kindness and decency — which we know from the opera’s full title, La Cenerentola, ossia La Bonta in Trionfo — that is, “ Cinderella, or Goodness Triumphant.”A fun and engaging mix of music and storytelling promoting tolerance, acceptance and respect."Date: 10/26/2018 ( NO SCHOOL FOR DCPS)Time: 1:00 PMLength of Event: 40 minutesLocation: The Forum at the Shakespeare Theatre, 610 F Street NW Washington, DC 20004Discipline: Performance (Opera + Storytelling)Curriculum Connections: (Choose Between: English/Language Arts, Philosophy, Architecture/Urban Studies, Technology, Foreign Language, Media/Film, History & Geography, Civics/Law, Diversity, Math, Science, Environment)Grades: K-6thTicket capacity: 150 (Please limit request to approximately 50 students per school, if possible so we can reach as many schools as possible.
