Game Devs of Color Expo 2019 - Speaker Application
Thank you for your interest in speaking at the Game Devs of Color Expo 2019 in Harlem, New York! If selected your talk will be given on July 27th, 2019.

The Game Devs of Color Expo specializes in having talks you won’t see anywhere else. Our speakers include a variety of people who are designers, writers, artists, programmers, influencers, and more from the global cultural games space. We want our talks to focus on the projects you work on, the art and tools you create, your unique talents that you bring to games, the communities you manage, and the many other ways you enrich games. Our mission is to push past diversity 101 talks, and as such, we specifically do NOT want talks that focus primarily on race or background as their core subject matter.

To see our previous talks check out our playlist from 2018 here.

We'd love to get all kinds of talk submissions, but we're VERY interested in talks about the following subjects:

Discussing getting your game project funded - either through crowdfunding or otherwise.
Completing a full cycle of game development (pitch, design, develop, launch.)
Unique ways of getting into game development, or interacting with games culture.
The importance of community building, including social media, streaming, etc.
Radical/experimental game design ideas, that work to broaden the boundaries of how we make games!

Don't worry too much over the minutiae of the form - fill in the descriptions as best as you can, be detailed, and be interesting! If you want to have other people on a panel, please note that in the last question, and encourage those people to submit forms as well.

The auditorium will be equipped with a PC laptop that your presentation will be loaded onto.

All speakers will receive a speakers fee based on funds availability, and a ticket to the event.

Submissions close at 11:59 pm Eastern on Friday, May 17th, 2019.

Do you identify as a person of color? *
This includes but is not limited to: Black, Latinx, East Asian, Southeast Asian, Desi, Middle Eastern, Pacific Islander, indigenous, and multiracial people who do not mainly identify as White.
Because we are a collective who works to uplift people of color in the games space across an intersectional spectrum, please tell us a bit about who you are, and what relationship you have to games. *
All answers are valid - some examples: I’m a former tech analyst who launched a successful Kickstarter campaign for a Metroidvania roguelike. I was bullied a lot as a black dude in the PC gaming scene so I made my own gaming server and the rest is history. Being a trans latinx woman I wanted to see more games with people like me so I created my own stories in TWINE… I’m a pansexual indigenous nonbinary person with grand ideas about character customization and agricultural diversity in farm sims.
