2023 GPNP Summit: Nonprofit Awards Nominations

The Greater Pittsburgh Nonprofit Partnership (GPNP) is now accepting nominations for individuals and organizations to be recognized at the 2023 GPNP Summit. All nominees should demonstrate a commitment to social justice, equity, and impact in their work.

In addition to awards given in prior years, we are excited to announce a new group of awards known as The Gismondi Awards for Nonprofit Excellence.  These awards are created by John P. Gismondi and the Gismondi Family Funds to recognize outstanding achievement by nonprofits in a variety of categories. These awards will be presented in conjunction with the 2023 GPNP Summit to organizations that have been able to adapt, adjust and pivot to meet the needs of or expand the community. These awards will include a cash prize that can be spent at the organization’s discretion. The Gismondi award categories and criteria are these:

  • Inspiration - Recognizing work or programs which demonstrate an unusual degree of dedication or perseverance to overcome challenges, which is likely to motivate and influence others
  • Innovation - Recognizing new concepts, ingenuity, or creativity in delivery of service
  • Advocacy - Recognizing a campaign or project which was particularly effective in addressing or promoting an issue of significant public interest
  • Education - Recognizing outstanding achievement or performance in advancing basic learning skills of school-age children or improving the quality of content or increasing equitable access to learning resources
  • Health - Recognizing outstanding achievement or performance in advancing physical and/or mental well-being of adults and children or improving the quality of care or increasing equitable access

In order to nominate an organization or individual in one of the categories, please fill out this form - submissions will not be received in another format. Please be as detailed as possible in the information you provide about how this organization or individual meets criteria for the award and why you believe their work to be noteworthy. (Ex: aspects of the work or need for it, how it improved conditions or broke ground, and what outcomes were achieved).

In addition to the new Gismondi Excellence Awards, GPNP will also present other awards as in prior years: Transformative Leader Awards will be presented to two impactful nonprofit professionals. The Making Your Mark Award will be presented to someone younger than 30 while the Trailblazer Award will be presented to a 30+ nonprofit professional. The individuals we are looking to honor are tuned in to identifying the needs of their communities and developing actionable solutions to continue meeting needs in an environment of increased demand and fewer resources.

Cross-Sector Champion Awards will be presented to established professionals in each of the following sectors: government, business, and philanthropy who demonstrate a commitment to social justice and equality in their work and demonstrate true community service and community building on both strategic and individual impact levels in sectors outside of historically nonprofit scope. Presented from The Forbes Funds and GPNP and would not include a monetary award.
