REGISTRATION FOR 2019 HUNGER FEST

Program Description
We are calling on Knights to join together at our 3rd Annual Hunger Fest to serve our brothers and sisters in need in the city of Boston/ Hunger Fest is an overnight service retreat, during which students fast in solidarity with the hungry, learn more about the realities of hunger and homelessness, and then make and deliver meals to various social organization in the greater Boston area.

The program will begin at 6:00PM Thursday, when we will be taking part in fun and engaging community building activities and group discussions about hunger and homeless before sleeping over at CM in the gym in solidarity with our homeless brothers and sisters who sleep on the hard ground on the streets. On Friday morning, we will rise early and get to work in the Student Commons making 1000 brown bag lunches consisting of a sandwich, snack, and a drink. Students will then assist in delivering the completed lunches to the hungry of the greater Boston area at local soup kitchens and homeless shelters. We will break the fast with a pizza lunch before concluding the program at 1:00PM on Friday. Students will be credited with 6 service hours for their work, but most importantly, they will have the lifelong experience of standing in solidarity with the least of their brothers and sisters.

-Grades 9-11 will be invited for the entirety of the program: Thursday evening, overnight, and Friday portions. Students in grade 12 who have previously participated are invited to apply with Mr Durazo to serve as a leader.

-Grades 7-8 are invited to join the program on Friday morning at 7:30AM in the student Commons. Middle school students will join the high school participants in making 1000 sandwiches, and will be placed in a middle school specific group for a delivery into Boston.

The event will conclude for all students at 1:00PM on Friday with a closing service and a communal meal to break the fast.

The cost of participating is $10.00. This donation will cover student's participation and provide 7 meals to those in need.

PLEASE NOTE: Completing this form does not guarantee your son has a place in the program. Spots are reserved for Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors.

After the registration window closes, students will be notified by email they have received a spot on February 28th, and must then submit the $10.00 program fee. In addition to a packing list and other important information, the link to this program fee payment will be included in this email, and must be submitted online by Tuesday, March 5th at 5:00PM, or the student will lose his place in the program.
