The Mid-Fairfield Youth Cannabis Prevention Project is a state-funded project run by Positive Directions. We are working with New Canaan, Norwalk, Weston, Westport, and Wilton to build regional awareness & strategies around underage use of cannabis. We are looking for 3-5 high school-aged students from each of the 5 communities to join our Regional Youth Prevention Team.
Youth team members will be trained & supported to provide peer education around cannabis; will participate in and help organize focus groups; will collaborate on a regional landscape analysis--which is a process to identify products that are currently being marketed to youth in our communities; and will do a virtual presentation to regional stakeholders at the end of the project. We anticipate approximately 10-12 meetings/trainings/events during the school year, some of them virtual, with the project ending by June 2026. Upon completion, youth will receive a $200 stipend.
