The Art of Soul Making: A Journey Through Dante's Divine Comedy
The Art of Soul Making: A Journey Through Dante's Divine Comedy
A three day retreat of art, music, lecture and contemplation
St. Columba's Retreat House, Inverness, CA
Friday, February 28- Sunday March 1, 2020

Dante's Divine Comedy has been called the most beautiful poem ever written- but it is much more than that: it is a brilliant work of imagination that weaves together Greek and Roman myth, European history and a pathway of universal psychological development with deep cross cultural resonances. Written during the "dark woods" of Dante's midlife, amid a series of catastrophes, it is an epic achievement that saved the author's own life- and can immeasurably enrich our own.

In this three-day retreat, we will experience Dante's story through storytelling, art and music. We'll also connect Dante's story to our own lives and spiritual development through guided journaling, soul collage, a labyrinth ritual and small group sharing. Our time together will conclude with an exquisite concert of Medieval pilgrim songs offered by the internationally renowned Catherine Braslavksy of Paris.

Past participants have called this " a life changing revelation", "deeply healing and revealing" and "a fascinating and life affirming journey that shifted my view of the world".

Kayleen Asbo, Ph.D retreat director, is a mythologist, musicians, cultural historian, spiritual director and interdisciplinary scholar who has internationally presented on Dante. You can learn more about her at
