In a nutshell, the PALOMERA (Policy Alignment of OA Monographs in the European Research Area) project seeks to understand why so few OA funder policies include books, and to provide actionable recommendations to change this.
With the overall aim of speeding up the transition to OA for books to further promote open science, it has set out to achieve five specific objectives:
To develop and coordinate a Knowledge Base with qualitative and quantitative data on the OA book policy landscape in Europe.
To understand the challenges preventing research funding and research-performing organisations from developing and aligning on policies for OA books.
To engage relevant stakeholders in validating the collected data and analyses and making evidence-based, actionable recommendations on how to further advance alignment, diversity, equity, and inclusion in OA book policies and strategies.
To help research funding and research performing organisations develop policies and strategies that will advance the transition to OA books through the establishment and operation of a trusted forum (the Funder Forum).
To learn from and share experiences with research funding organisations outside of the ERA who have developed OA book policies.
While some of the objectives have already been achieved, others are ongoing. With this survey, we invite the wide community to provide their feedback on specific objective aspects in the below questions. This will help us better understand the impact the project might have on the community and the added value stakeholders see in these resources.
Written comments can be submitted through this form until the 15th of June.
Submitted comments will be discussed among the PALOMERA project team, and unattributed submissions will also be published on the project’s Zenodo community as part of various project deliverables.
