Thank you for your interest in a Trustee position on the Demarest Library Board of Trustees.
Service on the Library Board of Trustees is voluntary with no monetary compensation and trustees are appointed by the Mayor. Library trustees attend at least one regular monthly meeting on the third Monday evening at 7 pm. We do not meet in August. In addition, each trustee is expected to take part in subcommittees such as: Finance, Programming, Buildings & Grounds, Communications, Technology, etc.. The time requirement for each trustee generally ranges from about 3 to 10 hours per month.

The Board of Trustees’ main responsibilities are for adopting library policies, vision statement, and strategic plan, choosing and supervising the library director, adopting a budget and overseeing its administration, and obtaining financial support for the library.

Once you submit your application, it will be reviewed by the Board's Nominating Committee, who will present nominations to the Mayor who makes the final appointments.
