Exercise OverviewThis functional exercise simulates real emergency response scenarios, focusing on a large earthquake event. Participants will operate within their usual roles, relying on existing knowledge, policies, and plans. Key exercise details:
- Duration: 8 hours (1 hr. Mobilization/Briefing, 6 hrs. Exercise, 1 hr. Demobilization/Hot Wash)
- Realism: Players will be encouraged to keep internet or landlines use to a minimum during the exercise; text messaging will be allowed for all players.
- Accelerated Timeline: Some parts will be expedited due to time constraints
As part of this training exercise, Office of Emergency Service departments throughout the western United States will be collaborating with their local partner agencies, community-based organizations, and state and federal agencies to provide a training opportunity to practice real-life communication scenarios for a large earthquake event.
