Please do not create Utah Inland Port Project Areas in Spanish Fork (Utah County) or Tooele County. These proposed Inland Ports are not in the public interest.
If built, the proposed ports would destroy high functioning wetlands and put more pressure on the dying Great Salt Lake and Utah Lake respectively. They would damage air quality, increase traffic congestion, destroy roads and create danger from heavy trucks. In short they would destroy quality of life.
Creation of the UIPA Tooele and Spanish Fork Inland Port Project Areas would provide significant tax breaks and other taxpayer funded assistance to profit seeking developers. Taxpayer money should not be used to benefit a few developers at the expense of public health.
Not only would residents of Tooele and Utah Counties be hurt by this, but people throughout northern Utah would suffer from the degradation of our air shed, destruction of critical wildlife habitat increasing the stress on migratory birds, and increased pollution from dangerous truck traffic.
