Careers in Library & Information Science - A Week-Long Exploration
Are you interested in the field of library and information science? Bryn Mawr, Gettysburg, Haverford, Lafayette and Swarthmore College Libraries are seeking students to participate in a week-long, paid externship on the Bryn Mawr College campus (May 20-24, 2019). The goal is to introduce students from underrepresented groups to the field of library and information science and to promote the American Library Association's fundamental values of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. A cohort of up to 10 students will participate (1-2 from each campus). The week will include presentations, discussions, readings, and field trips - this is not a traditional job shadowing experience! Together externs and librarians will explore career options and connections between librarianship and pressing social issues.

Participants will receive a $500 stipend. Housing, meals, and transportation to/from Bryn Mawr (from Gettysburg or a similar distance) will be covered.

The Gettysburg student extern(s) will have the opportunity to be employed in Musselman Library in fall 2019, as well.

Application deadline: Sunday, March 31, 2019. Interviews will be conducted on Monday, April 8. Successful applicants will be notified no later than April 12, 2019.
