The NEN Awards Returns for its 10th and Biggest Year Ever
The NEN Awards are San Francisco’s way of honoring and celebrating the work of residents and organizations who make our city an amazing place to live.

Our Nomination Process:
Please take the time to nominate your local heroes for this year’s award categories (see list below) and remember you can nominate your own group/organization. The nomination window closes at 5pm on Friday, December 1st.

Save the Date:
Also please save the date of the evening of January 26th, 2018. We’ll be releasing event reservation information in November so watch for updates.

Thank you for your support of this important celebration and we’ll see you in the rotunda with the rest of your neighborhood partners.

NOTE: If you are a past winner, we will be inviting back awardees from over the last ten years to join us and celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Awards.

Outstanding Neighborhood Watch Group Award
SF SAFE Neighborhood Watch groups are often started as a result of public safety issues. Once these SAFE groups are formed, members are empowered to take on other endeavors, such as beautification projects, eradicating graffiti, and getting trained as NERT volunteers. This award recognizes the SAFE Neighborhood Watch Group who has made exceptional contributions to their neighborhood by making it a safer, stronger, more vibrant and better overall place to live or work. Exemplary NERT Leadership Award
The SF Fire Department's Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT) initiative has trained thousands of San Franciscans to not only play an integral role in the City’s response to disasters of any size, but to also provide leadership and support to their communities on a daily basis. Exemplary ALERT Leadership Award
During times of stress, the public safety of residents is a top priority for the SF Police Department. To ensure it has the capacity to meet its mission, the SFPD has created the Auxiliary Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) program which trains residents to be part of its team post disaster. This award honors a merchant group or community benefit district that works to improve their community's commercial corridor. Every year, the Recreation and Parks Department benefits from more than 100,000 volunteer hours to support park maintenance projects and recreation programs.
