Artists in the Schools Proposal
The Artists in the Schools (AIS) program serves to provide students with high-quality experiences in the arts that inspire their creativity and confidence, further their academic learning, and foster their life-long appreciation of and participation in the arts. It also serves to provide teachers with new ideas for teaching and integrating the arts throughout the core academic subjects while also fostering their appreciation for how the arts can enrich their classrooms and the lives of their students.

Through AIS, ahha Tulsa provides professional teaching, presenting, and performing artists (both individuals and through organizations) in visual, performing, and literary arts to schools for enriching educational experiences.

If you would like to involved in Artists in the Schools, please review the guidelines below and submit the following proposal form. You will be contacted within one week of submission for further review and discussion.

Artist & Organization Eligibility
Individuals wishing to apply to the Artists in the Schools (AIS) program must:
• Have formal training (a college degree or higher) in an artistic discipline or equivalent experience.
• Be actively practicing their art through performance, exhibition, publishing, etc.
• Demonstrate the ability to work in an educational setting and experience working with students in grades PreK-12.
• Present themselves professionally as artist and educators.
• Submit a complete proposal.

Organizations wishing to apply to AIS must:
• Be located in the Tulsa area.
• Operate as an independent business or organization with its own employees, board, budget, etc.
• Have extensive background experience and knowledge within their artistic discipline(s).
• Be actively performing, exhibiting, publishing, etc., work of professional artists.
• Support arts education through specific programs, curriculum, operations, etc.
• Provide professional teaching and/or performing artists who have formal education and/or training in an artistic
discipline, demonstrate the ability to work in an educational setting, and have experience working with students in
grades PreK-12.
• Submit a complete proposal.

Proposed offerings must:
• Be of high artistic merit and reflect the expertise of the artist or arts organization.
• Focus on teaching students in developmentally-appropriate ways about or through an artistic discipline.
• Achieve one or more of the stated outcomes for AIS by ahha Tulsa.
• Provide a unique experience beyond what a classroom teacher can provide.
• Support the curriculum guidelines put forth by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
