RAP’s Member Organizing Training (MOT) is a 2-month intensive program that develops the organizing and leadership skills of RAP members who want to learn how to become leaders in workplace change. You’ll get training, support, and hands-on experience to build power in stores and across the retail industry. The 2016 Fall program runs from October through Nov/Dec. Participants must commit to a minimum of 15 hours a week.MOTs will engage with retail workers to:• Identify issues in their workplace• Connect with and inspire leaders in stores• Plan and execute a worker-led action
Participants will receive ongoing training and support every week while being expected to continue their involvement as RAP leaders by participating in actions, committee projects, and member meetings. Upon graduation from the program, participants will become Member Volunteer Organizers (MVOs).
Member Volunteer Organizers are leaders at RAP who:• Organize coworkers and take action for workplace justice at your store• Speak out about the need for family-sustaining jobs in retail• Develop the leadership of new RAP members
