Pacific Coast TV (
Comcast 26/27 and worldwide @
www.PacificCoast.tv) is the nation's oldest Community Media Center (CMC), training locals to create original TV and radio programs, as well as online podcasts. We're also the most awarded CMC in the US, twice winning
station of the year, multipl
e Emmy's and numerous other awards for our innovative and life-affirming programming. There are over 3,000 of these stations around the country. And to think it ALL started RIGHT HERE in Pacifica and Half Moon Bay California!
Our media center is also called a P.E.G. TV station. PEG stands for Public, Education and Government Access programming. This means PCT brings you unflitered ACCESS to local city council, county board of supervisors, school district meetings, and a host of other programs created by and for our community covering a range of social and cultural concerns. We also help community members and students, regardless of their background, or ability to pay, create their own shows at our facility through ongoing training and by checking out cameras and professional video equipment without fees. In this manner, PCT partners with the public to literally chronicle and preserve the life and history of our coastside for now and future generations. We believe a media literate public is an empowered public.
WILL YOU SUPPORT US?
Our main source of funding comes from a fee cable subscribers pay called a P.E.G. fee. This enables communities like Pacifica, Half Moon Bay, and the San Mateo County to receive the vital services we provide at substantially subsidized rates. In recent years however, there has been a trend where many stations have not survived due to a loss of this funding. As PCT enters new contracts with our local municipalities, we want to know: Are these services NECESSARY? And: Can we count on Public support to keep our funding? Please take a few moments and answer the following questions. Your support could make ALL the difference.
