Usher, Greeter & Lector Sign Ups (for 6th-12th Graders + Parents)
This form is for 6th-12th grade students and their parents to sign up to help at 5 pm Sunday Masses at St. Mary's during the school year. Students who are preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation (6th-8th grade) are especially encouraged to sign up regularly and in advance.

5 pm Sunday Masses begin September 8 and continue through the school year on most Sundays. Please check the bulletin or website to confirm. 

Please do your best to sign up at least FOUR DAYS IN ADVANCE (aka, the Thursday before the selected Sunday). If there are still open spots after Thursday, you are still welcome to take them, but signing up in advance is helpful. See the description and requirements for each ministry below:

USHERS 
  • open to all ages 6th grade and up (teens and adults)
  • ushers are responsible for coordinating the offertory collection (collecting money using the usher baskets); an adult volunteer or staff member will place the collection in the safe
  • ushers arrive by 4:45 pm, check-in in the sacristy, and move to their offertory locations during the Creed ("I believe in one God...")
  • ushers begin the collection as the congregation sits down immediately after the Petitions
GREETERS
  • open to all ages 6th grade and up (teens and adults)
  • greeters must be able to SMILE and say the word: WELCOME 
  • greeters arrive by 4:40 pm and station themselves at each entrance of the church
  • greeters hold the door or stand near the door, welcoming parishioners as they enter
  • greeters move to their seats when the opening song ends
LECTORS
  • this sign-up form is only open to 8th-12th grade student lectors; adults wishing to help as lectors please contact Chase separately
  • student lectors must be trained by Chase Hawkins or Joy Pacheco prior to the date in which they sign up; please be proactive in reaching out to Chase to schedule a training time (~20 minutes)
  • student lectors proclaim the Word of God along with the regularly scheduled member of the COSM lector team
  • student lectors will proclaim EITHER the 1st or the 2nd Reading at 5 pm Sunday Masses; COSM lector team will proclaim the other reading and the petitions
Please be sure to arrive 15-20 minutes before Mass on the days you sign up!
