Give Israel 1st Prize for its Purim costume: "Democracy
Israel is preparing to deport 40,000 African refugees to likely violence, death and slavery - many of the refugees have begun a hunger strike to oppose the false choice of deportation or indefinite imprisonment. Hundreds of Palestinian children are detained in military prisons, including 17-year-old Ahed Tamimi, who is awaiting her trial in military court behind bars.
Meanwhile, Israel continues to cultivate a perception of itself as a guarantor of human rights, equality and dignity for all - the "only democracy in the Middle East."
Next Monday evening, 2/26, we are awarding Israel first-place in our Purim costume contest for dressing up as a "democracy."
Join us at 6:30 pm, outside the Israeli Consulate at 500 W. Madison St.,
