Engineering: Session 1-3 - Grades 4-5, 6-8The Engineering course will teach students the engineering process, including how something begins as an idea and ends up a working model. Students will build various machines from common items found and learn the engineering principles behind how those machines work.
Coding & Robotics: Session 1-2 - Grades 4-5, 6-8 The course will center around building and programming a driving robot. Students will work in teams to assemble an autonomous robot from Lego Robotics kits (grades 4-5) or 3D printed parts (grades 6-8). They will then program the robot to solve problems using the Lego (grades 4-5) or Arduino (grades 6-8) programming language. During the assembly and programming process, we will take a look at the how the electronics and programming work together get the robot to function. Topics and skills include 3D printing, electronics, soldering (grades 6-8), programming, assembly, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Game Design: Session 3 - Grades 4-5In Game Design, students learn basic video game coding concepts by making different types of games, including racing, platform, launching, and more! We will be using Scratch and Google CS First materials to develop, test, and play games that the students create.
Python Programming with Minecraft: Session 3 - Grades 6-8 The worlds of programming and Minecraft collide in this session. Students will use the Python programming language to manipulate their own Minecraft world. Python is a versatile programming language used by engineers at some of the largest technology companies, like Google. Programming concepts presented in this session can translate to other programming languages and Python-specific skills could be used on projects outside of Minecraft.
