AGT+ Membership Application
The Association of Government Toxicologists (AGT) was founded on November 23, 1983, originally to promote and facilitate the acquisition and utilization of knowledge in toxicology, and to provide opportunities for government toxicologists to meet and exchange ideas. In 2017, AGT initiated an exciting change to who we are, voting to modify our Constitution and By-laws (C&Bs) and open the door to a significant expansion in the breadth and number of scientific professionals who will now be eligible to join our membership ranks and actively serve in leadership roles as Officers and/or members of Council. The changes enacted in the C&B amendments include the following expansions:

1. The range of eligible scientific disciplines to encompass areas closely related to, though not traditionally considered, toxicology, i.e., "human, animal, and environmental health and safety sciences, and associated regulatory science";

2. The definition of Full Member from only those employed by the U.S. Federal Government to now also include those employed by State and Local Governments;

3. The definition of Associate Member to now also include those employed by non-governmental entities (i.e., NGOs); and

4. The range of those Full Members who are eligible to vote on affairs of the Association and to be elected to serve on Council to now include those who have fully retired from government service, if they so desire.

Full membership (right to vote) is available to those who are employed by any United States Federal, State, or Local Government as a qualified scientist in any human, animal, or environmental health- or safety-related science position, or who were so employed at the time of their retirement or separation from government due to a reduction in force (RIF). Our AGT website has the full text of our newly amended C&Bs (govtox.org).

AGT -- now AGT Plus or AGT+, until a new name is selected -- also recently decided to create a no-cost Graduate Student Member subcategory of Associate Member.

Note that AGT+ is not an official U.S. government unit. Opinions expressed at meetings, on the webite (govtox.org), and elsewhere are those of the authors only, and may not reflect official U.S. government policy. AGT, Inc. is a Maryland Corporation.
