To be considered for a WHS Local Scholarship, an applicant is required to meet the following criteria. Students who do not meet all required criteria will not be interviewed and will not be eligible for a WHS Local Foundation Scholarship. However, these applications may be reviewed for non-WHS Foundation funds. (Remember, additional scholarship links are found in the Daily Bulletin.)

Eligibility Criteria:

Must have a minimum weighted cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
Must attend a 2 or 4 year college, university, private school or trade program in the 2023-2024 academic school year.
Have all 85 Youth Service Learning hours submitted and approved in Helper Helper by January 18th.
Attend a Scholarship Interview in March. (Counseling will provide you with the date and time)

The following documents must be SUBMITTED with the printed copy of this application that you will receive via email:

2022-2023 Local Scholarship Application.
This cover sheet (page 2) with your signature and your parents' signature. (When you receive the completed electronic application, print this page and submit to the Counseling Office with signatures.)
Resume (Title: Last Name, First Name, Resume. May update and use the one from your E-Portfolio)
Helper Helper: Service Portfolio Printout (Title: Last Name, First Name, Service Portfolio - Go to View Stats & Goals - then Service Record.)
1 to 2 page Essay/Letter that includes educational and personal goals, and need for financial assistance for college. (Title: Last Name, First Name, Essay/Letter - You can update your Letter of Introduction written for your E-Portfolio and to include your need for financial assistance. Please describe any special circumstances that may affect your family’s ability to pay for school: medical costs, divorce, unemployment, child support, etc.)
2 to 3 Letter(s) of Recommendation from teachers or community members. (Title: First Name Last Name, Letter #1, etc. - No relatives, no recommendations from anyone under 25 years old. You may use one you have collected already for your Portfolio plus one additional letter.)

If you submit an application, you will be required to submit the following documents by March 31, 2023:

FAFSA Confirmation Page: must show Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
Student Aid Report (SAR) You will receive your SAR via email or mail from Federal Student Aid once you submit your FAFSA, and it is processed.
Budget Analysis for the college you plan to attend. (Financial Comparison Worksheet you completed for the E-Portfolio; update and complete after deciding on which school you are planning to attend)

Additional Requirements: Thank you letter(s), proof of enrollment/schedule, and semester grades may be required before checks are issued.
