Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Gabba Ward Office following the closure of the 86 Kurilpa bus loop.
Almost a year ago, my office launched the Save Our 86 campaign when the LNP Council announced they would end this popular and essential service. Since then, we've been fighting hard to keep the 86 running - delivering a petition with 1,179 signatures (one of the largest ever submitted to Council), applying consistent pressure through Council Chambers, organising community meetings and protests, and challenging Council's questionable data revisions.
Despite overwhelming community support and clear evidence of need, the LNP Council proceeded with cancelling the route on 27 January 2025. This was a disappointing outcome, but our fight for accessible public transport doesn't end here.
Now we need your help for the next phase of our advocacy. We're collecting data from past 86 users about how the removal of this route has impacted your daily lives. Your stories and experiences are crucial evidence that will inform our formal advocacy moving forward, including potential approaches to State Government and other decision-makers.
Whether it's added travel time, difficulty getting to work or school, increased costs, or losing access to essential services, we need to document the real, lived impact of this decision. Your voice matters, and your feedback will help us build the strongest possible case for restoring this service or securing alternative solutions.
