Intervention Programs
  • The Violence Interventions Program (VIP) is an intervention aimed at helping students involved in aggressive behaviors that disrupt the school’s learning environment by teaching them coping skills. The program requires the involvement of the student's parent or guardian in a collaborative effort to support the impacted students. VIP focuses on raising awareness of youth violence through group discussions, providing interventions to modify inappropriate behavior, and exploring the effects of youth violence on students’ emotional and social well-being. The aim of VIP is to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for students to explore healthy ways to deal with their emotions and behaviors. The program seeks to partner with students and families to maintain safe schools and positive learning environments conducive to academic success and personal growth.

  • The Sexual Harassment Interventions Program (SHIP) supports students through group discussions on relationship boundaries, digital citizenship, responsible decision-making, and understanding district expectations and federal laws concerning sex discrimination and sexual misconduct. The program requires the involvement of the student's parent or guardian as a collaborative effort to support affected students. SHIP aims to raise awareness about the different types of sexual harassment and its impact on students' emotional and social well-being. It also addresses inappropriate sexual behavior's effects on others and teaches social and self-awareness competencies. The program aims to work with students and families to maintain safe schools and positive learning environments that support academic success.

  • The Social Media Awareness Responsibility Training (SMART) is an intervention designed for students to promote digital citizenship, social awareness, and self-management while engaging in online activity. SMART engages students and families in focused discussions, teaching responsible decision-making to deter behavior that negatively impacts their school environment. The program requires the involvement of the student's parent or guardian as a collaborative effort to support affected students. SMART provides interventions for inappropriate behavior and explores the impact of cyberbullying on students’ emotional and social well-being. The program aims to provide education and intervention to help students and their families understand and address the issue of cyberbullying responsibly and constructively.

  • The Community Service (CS) Program provides students with an opportunity to engage in meaningful work within their community. It fosters civic responsibility, empathy, and personal growth. Students receive a consent form outlining the rules and expectations. Community service also serves as an alternative consequence for Code of Student Conduct violations, promoting accountability and rehabilitation. Engaging in service activities educates students about social issues and essential life skills. The program aims to foster positive behavior, citizenship, and community ties.

  • With the exception of Community Service which is held from 8 am to 1 pm, VIP, SHIP, and SMART are held from 9 am to 12 pm at the Spaugh Professional Development Center.
