Totalitarianization, the process of making or becoming totalitarian.
“Is there life after democracy? What sort of life will it be?” Arundathy Roy asks these questions in order to introduce us on her book “Fieldnotes on Democracy”, published in 2009. Aside from the question of where to apply the term Democracy and if it is even the model we should aspire to, the ongoing pandemic has exacerbated political dynamics that continue erasing our rights from many different sides. Under the nostalgic label of "the new normal", we are just getting more sophisticated and violent regimes of control. In the following series of talks we will have the opportunity not only to listen to the diverse ways this process is happening from different areas and in different parts of the world, but we will also get ideas debate how to confront them and how it may be possible to build other realities in which those powers no longer rule and in which we are all included.
"האם יש חיים אחרי הדמוקרטיה? אילו מין חיים הם יהיו?" ארונדהטי רוי שואלת את השאלות הללו בפתיחת ספרה "הערות שדה על דמוקרטיה", שפורסם עוד בשנת 2009. מלבד השאלה על מה ניתן להחיל את המונח דמוקרטיה, והאם זה בכלל המודל שעלינו לשאוף אליו, המגיפה המתמשכת החריפה דינמיקה פוליטית שממשיכה למחוק את זכויותינו מצדדים רבים ושונים. תחת התווית של חתירה ל"נורמליות חדשה", אנחנו מקבלים משטרי שליטה מתוחכמים ואלימים יותר.בסדרת השיחות הבאה תהיה לנו הזדמנות לא רק לשמוע על הדרכים המגוונות שבהן התהליך הזה מתרחש באזורים ובמקומות שונים בעולם, אלא גם לדון ברעיונות על כיצד ניתן להתעמת איתו, וכיצד אפשר יהיה לבנות מציאויות אחרות שיכילו את כולנו ובהן הכוחות הללו לא ישלטו.
"هل هناك حياة بعد الديمقراطية؟ أي نوع من الحياة ستكون؟ " تطرح أرونداتي روي هذه الأسئلة كوسيلة لتعريفنا على كتابها "ملاحظات ميدانية حول الديمقراطية" ، الذي نُشر في عام 2009. إلى جانب الأسئلة عن الأماكن التي يمكن وصفها بدموقراطية، وهل الدموقراطية النموذج الذي يجب أن نطمح إليه ، فقد أدى الوباء المستمر إلى تفاقم الديناميكيات السياسية التي تستمر في محو حقوقنا. تحت عنوان العودة إلى "الحياة الطبيعية الجديدة"، نحن فقط نحصل على أنظمة سيطرة أكثر تطوراً وعنفًا. من خلال سلسلة المحادثات التالية ، ستتاح لنا الفرصة ليس فقط للاستماع إلى الطرق المتنوعة التي تحدث بها هذه العملية في أجزاء مختلفة من العالم، بل أيضا لمناقشة طرق لمواجهتها وكيف يمكن بناء واقع آخر حيث لم تعد تلك القوى تحكم.
