Pitt-CIRTL Course - Prep For The STEM Classroom
Prep For The Stem Classroom course will be offered in the Fall 2024 semester.  University of Pittsburgh graduate/professional students, postdocs, and early faculty members may use this form to sign up for this course.  

This course meets on Tuesdays from 4:00 PM - 4:50 PM in Benedum Hall Room 320.

Designed for individuals planning for academic careers in the STEM disciplines, this course provides an introduction to the alignment model, evidence-based teaching practices, and general principles of teaching and learning.  The primary focus of this course is to provide an introduction to best practices in teaching pedagogy.  

The course will utilize material presented in a massive open online course (MOOC) available through EdX.org and sponsored by the center for the integration of research, teaching and learning (CIRTL). Participants will learn about effective teaching strategies and the research that supports these strategies in the college classroom.

Graduate students who wish to receive 1 credit hour for successful completion of this course should register for this course when they register for their other graduate courses.  This course is cross listed with the Engineering, Chemistry, and Biological Sciences departments.
