Application Form - Canadian Sports-Tech Accelerator
The Los Angeles area is home to 11 professional sports teams, eight NCAA Division I schools, 14 stadiums with at least 10,000 seats, 11 arenas with 5,000 seats or more, dozens of smaller sports facilities, and millions of fans. Upcoming mega events in LA include the 2022 Super Bowl, 2028 Olympics, anticipated FIFA World Cup events, and more.

Recognizing the strength of the sports sector in Los Angeles, the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles has designated Sports as one of the key verticals of the SoCal Tech Highway – a new regionally-focused acceleration initiative. As part of this acceleration initiative for the Sports-tech vertical, the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles is partnering with the Los Angeles Sports Council (LASC) and Sports Innovation Lab to deliver the Canadian Sports-Tech Accelerator, which aims to connect Canadian companies to sports-tech contacts and opportunities across Southern California.

The Canadian Sports-Tech Accelerator, which spans over several months (from August -September 2021), is designed to accelerate the growth of selected Canadian sports-tech companies in Southern California, Arizona, and Nevada by:
- Supplying participants with strategic mentorship and advisory services, based on each  company’s needs
- Helping participants navigate the industry vertical overview and competitive landscape with a focus on SoCal/Southwest US
- Providing participants with access to top-tier, industry experts
- Advisory sessions on customer acquisition and market pitch refinement

As a participant, you will receive the following:
- One - 2 -hour Bootcamp Webinar (set webinar times)
- Two - 1-hour one-on-one Sessions w/ Sports Innovation Lab (timing based on your availability)
- Custom research to identify your company’s competitive landscape

The Canadian Sports-Tech Accelerator cohort are companies from across the Sports-tech and infrastructure sector – focused on mid-stage export-ready companies that already have experience in the U.S. market and that provide innovative sports-tech solutions in one of three sprints:
- Go - Organizations associated with going to the game at a venue, i.e., ticketing software, rideshare apps, concessionaires, biometrics,  and security  
 - Watch - Organizations associated with watching or consuming the sport via media, i.e., social media platforms, broadcast television, OTT services, blogs, podcasts
- Play - Organizations associated with playing sports, i.e., wearable technology, personal training software, apparel brands, video games

Timeline:
- Application Deadline - Friday, August 20, 2021
- Participants Announced - By Friday,  August 27, 2021
- Go Sprint - September 7 - 17, 2021 (Kickoff Tuesday, September 7, 12 - 2 PM ET)
- Watch Sprint - September 20 - 30, 2021 (Kickoff Monday, September 20, 12 - 2 PM ET)
- Play Sprint - October 4 - 15, 2021 (Kickoff Monday, October 4, 2021)

Eligibility requirements:
- Participants must be revenue-generating, be adequately funded to support expansion, and ready to develop a go-to-market strategy for the U.S.
- They must have a strong (and experienced) leadership team committed to investing time to participate in the initiative.
- They must have a competitive and differentiated solution that falls within one (or several) of the three sprints mentioned above. Companies can apply for one or more sprints.
- The objective of the partnership is to initiate a long-lasting business relationship with the southern Californian Sports community to benefit TCS clients targeting the industry, especially those from the ICT and infrastructure industry that need lead time with potential partners and customers for future bids  leading up to major events.

The submission deadline is Friday, August 6, 2021.  **Please note participation is not guaranteed***
Selection will be made jointly by Company overviews will be reviewed the Consulate General of Canada, LASC Board Members & Sports Innovation Lab.

Personal information will be protected under the provisions of the Privacy Act and will be described in a DFATD Personal Information Bank (PIB) currently under development. When completed, the PIB can be viewed at Info Source.
