WIC is a federal nutrition and health program that is run at the national level by the US Department of Agriculture, but is administered in Pennsylvania by the PA Department of Health. The Department of Health then contracts out WIC services to local agencies to enroll WIC families and provide nutrition services. Every year, the Department of Health must update its state plan with the Federal US Department of Agriculture to outline their policies for how the WIC program will run in Pennsylvania.
