AADA 2026 Conference Theme: Lift as You Climb: Using Mentorship to Advance Counseling Research and Practice for Adult Development

Proposal Submission Deadline: April 15, 2026 
Submissions must be submitted electronically using this form no later than 11:59 PM EST. 

Presenters with accepted submissions will be notified by May 31, 2026. 

Preference for proposals addressing one of the main conference themes:

Wellness and Support – Sessions that provide valuable insight into self-care, personal well-being, resilience, stress management, work-life balance, and growing a counseling practice/business/financial health. Also, consider action-oriented sessions with didactic and demonstration or application (i.e., yoga, reiki, career planning, goal setting, etc.).

Adultspan Mental Health Practices – Sessions aimed at teaching new techniques, skills, or presenting new research and ideas related to emerging adults, middle adulthood, and older adult mental health and therapy. Also, consider topics that address integrated care, the relationship between physical and mental health, diagnosis and treatment planning, and ethical/legal issues.

Social Justice, Advocacy, and Equity – Sessions related to addressing systemic inequities, policy and legal advocacy, community engagement and empowerment, best practices and anticipated future directions (i.e. what should providers be prepared to address). Topics might include Medicare, ADA Compliance and regulations, climate change, economic stability, empowering older adults to advocate for accessibility needs, etc.

Emerging Trends – Sessions aimed at providing valuable insight into significant trends, concerns, and advocacy issues impacting adult mental health. Consider topics such as the counseling compact, integration of technology in mental health care, emerging adult mental health, and holistic approaches to mental health (i.e., nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, etc.).

Counselor Education, Supervision, and Research – Sessions covering curriculum development, accreditation standards, innovative teaching methods, models of supervision, supervisory relationships, research trends/ issues, and application of research.

Mentorship -- Sessions covering professional mentorship, research collaboration, authorship, and professional mentorship opportunities for students, professionals, and counselor educators interested in adultspan research and clinical practice.
