GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS
1. Failure to comply with the rules will result in disqualification.
2. Specify number of participants.
3. Items must be presented as prescribed.
4. No changes in the program submitted will be allowed.
5. Certificates will be printed according to the information provided on the entry form. Please ensure that spelling is correct.
6. Cell phones must be switched off during performances.
7. Conflicting time tables: Only in exceptional cases, and only with prior consent from the head of section and adjudicator, will participants be allowed to move performing times.
8. No choir will be be considered if proof of payment of the registration fee has not been received by/before 31 September 2018.

REQUIREMENTS
• Junior Primary School Choirs may sing in unison and 2 voices.
• Senior Primary School Choirs may sing in 2 and 3 voices.
• All other choirs and groups may sing polyphony.
Any instruments may accompany choirs or groups (NO soundtracks/backing tracks)

PRESCRIBED PROGRAMME
Singing of 3 songs of your own choice.
• One religious song.
• One song in a language other than English.
• One classical music song.

Important directives
a. All choirs are required to sing notated music.
b. Choirs must present THREE contrasting works as prescribed. There must be variation in the character, tempo, atmosphere and tonality of the pieces presented.
c. The selection of songs are to match the age group of the choir members.
d. The complete score, including accompaniment, must be supplied to the adjudicators. The sheet music presented to the adjudicators must be in accordance with the song sung by the choir. (E.g. if the choir sings a two part song, it must be displayed in the sheet music as two-part).
e. It is expected of all choirs to present a well-balanced programme.
f. Four copies of every song that will be performed must be submitted to the convener before the performance. Music must be bound or in a flip file in order of performance. No loose pages will be accepted.

• General impression and discipline

Other important information
• Only a piano and choir stands will be supplied by the WMF Cantare Festival.
• Piano may not be moved.
• Choir benches may be moved at own risk.
• The use of any other orchestral (violins, flutes, etc.), electronic (amplifiers, guitar, etc.) and percussion (drumkit, etc.) instruments will be permitted, but is not compulsory.
• The use of microphones is not permitted
• The use of backtracks/soundtracks is NOT permitted
• The use of props and / or movements will be permitted, but is not compulsory.

Stage preparation
Once a choir has cleared the stage, the next choir will be granted a 3 minute period to prepare the stage for their performance, e.g. get instruments in place, etc.
