Your child continues to be eligible for English language support services.

Each year, your child will take the ACCESS for ELLs® test to determine their English language proficiency and the English language support they need. Our school offers language support services to students whose primary home language is not English and who could benefit from additional English and academic assistance.

Based on your child's English proficiency and school experiences, they will receive the following language support: Personalized instruction in English or their home language

Testing accommodations
Support in their first language
Individual or small group instruction with a teacher (classroom, EL, or bilingual) and/or an educational aide.

Instruction may occur in general education classrooms or separate settings and may include support in their home language. These services are designed to help students learn English, master academic content, and succeed in school.

By law, your child is entitled to these services. You can request changes to their English learner services at any time by submitting a written request to the school. You also have the right to decline direct English language services, in which case any support will be integrated into the regular curriculum.

Participation in EL services does not prevent your child from participating in other school programs and opportunities, such as interacting with peers, extracurricular activities, gifted programs, and/or special education services.
