The Culturally Inclusive Educator
When: April 5, 2019 (9:00 am--2:00 pm) Where: Kent Denver School (4000 E. Quincy Ave., Denver)
Facilitator: Dr. Dena R. Samuels (Assistant Professor in Women's and Ethnic Studies at UCCS)

This workshop will focus on how educators can meet the needs of an ever-growing multicultural population in order to create a welcoming, inclusive, and exciting classroom environment for all students. Through a combination of activities, Dr. Samuels will lead the group through a discussion of necessary preparation to overcome personal and institutional challenges to cultural inclusiveness (stereotype threats, microaggressions, colorblindness/identity-blindness, and implicit bias).

The Colorado Diversity Network is a consortium of ACIS schools dedicated to creating collaborative faculty and staff training around issues of equity, inclusion, and diversity.

2018-2019 CDN Members are: Aspen Academy, Boulder Country Day School, Colorado Academy, Dawson School, Denver Academy, Graland Country Day School, High Mountain Institute, Kent Denver School, Logan School, Montessori Academy of Colorado, Montessori School of Denver, St. Anne's Episcopal School, St. Elizabeth's School, St. Mary's Academy, Stanley British Primary School, and Vail Mountain School.
