Convocation of the West (MDAS) * 2023 Clericus and Regional Synod

This year the Anglican Convocation of the West will be holding its annual Clericus in conjunction with its Regional Synod in Mesilla, New Mexico, April 18, 19, 20 and 21.
Fr Michael Jarrett (https://thebordermission.org/) will be leading the Clericus portion of our time.
Please remember that your two Representatives to the Regional Synod should be the same as for the General Synod.

The clergy will be renewing their ordination vows. After the Synod, our retreat will continue with our Clericus. All are invited to stay on for this part.

Finally, the business portion of the Synod will be a hybrid model. Those who cannot attend in person can do so via Zoom.

THE DETAILS:

WHO:
The Synod is for all clergy, plus two delegates from each church in the Convocation of the West.
The Clericus is for all the clergy and candidates of the Convocation of the West in particular; others, lay or clergy, are most welcome as well. Those coming for Synod are most welcome to stay and fellowship with us.

HOW:

1) Fill out this form by March 18th, 2023 (we need a headcount for the retreat center and meals)

2) Fees can be paid either in advance or at the time of registration. Please note that our costs have doubled. We are absorbing the extra cost this year, but if you wish to contribute more, please so below.

3) Dress for attendance is cassocks for clergy. There is no need to bring vestments except for those participating in officiating or serving at one of the worship services.

Tuesday, April 18 : Registration opens at 4pm, Evensong is at 5pm, and the Vicar General's Reception is after dinner (dinner is included in your fee).
Wednesday, April 19: Synod & Clericus
Thursday, April 20: Synod & Clericus
Friday, April 21: leaving HCRC by at 11:30am. The concluding lunch, as usual, will be at a local Mesilla restaurant (hopefully Chopes).

Their website gives directions. Interstate access is I-10. Airport and Amtrak access is El Paso, TX. Closest city is Las Cruces, NM.

Holy Cross is a Franciscan community in one of the later colonial settlements along the Rio Grande, not far from the older 17th century villages. It is an area of acequias, farms, and orchards.

The center provides basic room items: towels, bedding, soap, etc. Rooms are first and second story, so if you can't do stairs, let us know. The facility itself is accessible.
