The term intersectionality describes the unique experiences, both good and bad, an individual has when different parts of their identity intersect and their effects. In conversations about aromanticism, it is important to remember the diversity within the community and include a wide variety of voices when discussing what aromanticism is and looks like.
AUREA is writing a book about aromanticism and would like to discuss how gender, religion, race/ethnicity, and disability intersect with aromanticism and other forms of queer identity. We hope to hear from other members of the community in order to accurately reflect what these intersections look like for aromantic people. Note: This is the second round of interviews and more submissions for the intersectionality between aromanticism and gender are no longer needed but feel free to discuss gender throughout the other sections if relevant.
When you respond to these questions, you will have the option to consent to having your experiences included in AUREA’s book, anonymously or not. You are still able to contribute if you do not wish your personal experiences to appear in the book. You can also decline to answer any question. If you would like to answer a question but do not want your response to be included in the book, please indicate so. We will contact you if wish to include your experiences.
In this form, you will be given the option to answer questions about 7 groups: race/ethnicity, internationality, religion, non-theism/secularism, disability, neurodivergence, and voidpunk. Declining to respond to a group of questions will lead you to the next category. You do not have to be aromantic or another queer identity to answer these questions but the questions are phrased to be directed at aromantic people. If relevant, answer the questions in regard to your non-aromantic queer identity or in whatever other way you feel is applicable.
Please be clear and detailed in your responses if possible.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at aureaintersectionalitysurvey@gmail.com. The amount of time this survey will take will depend on how many questions you answer. These are also different questions than the previous round of interviews so if you would like to see those, send us an email.
