Unless you need more time, booth set up will begin on TBD(Saturday, December 7 at 12 noon.) Be sure to tell all of your volunteers that they should sign in at the campus center information desk and be ready to volunteer by TBD (1 pm on Saturday,) in case children arrive a little early. If your group needs more time to set up, indicate your time needs in your booth application.
Booth activity should be appropriate for children ages 6-11. Booths are ‘first come first serve’, and need to be approved before you can participate. Although we will request to have the carpet taken up, there is a possibility the carpet may still be down in the gym so plan accordingly. Your student group is responsible for supplies, set up (including campus center tables and chairs), operation and clean up of booth (including putting away any campus center tables and chairs you used). Glitter cannot be part of your booth, either in decorations or used for crafts with the children. No sharp or dangerous objects, and your booth cannot be excessively messy. Plan for 35 children.
All volunteers MUST sign in at the campus center information desk, indicating that they agree to the volunteer expectations. It will be your responsibility to insure all of your volunteers abide by this. They are simple, but important.
Volunteer expectations have been established to protect the children and Transylvania volunteers. They are:
-Photos are only allowed for personal use (for you to look at, not to share with others), and cannot be posted to any website, brochures, etc, unless you have clearance from Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Contact Natalie Thompson, 231-8181, for more information.
-Do not share any personal information about the children with others including names.
-The ONLY people who are permitted to take the children to the bathroom are Big Brothers/Big Sisters staff people. Do not take them to the bathroom on your own. BBBS staff will wear special shirts so you will be able to find them easily.
-Do not take a child any place outside of the Crimson Christmas area (Campus Center Gym, Conference Room A, etc.)
-Do not imply in any way that you will become their big brother or big sister. If you would like to volunteer with BB/BS, please contact them at 231-8181.
-There will be food served but it is only for the children.
You are responsible to insuring that your group signs in at the campus center information desk and agrees to these expectations.
